What is koen meigi?

A koen meigi is a letter of endorsement from a government body, media group or organization that sees merit in a program or event that is being held by another organization. This letter is offered as a way to increase visibility and raise the status of the event in the eye of the general public. The organization sending the koen meigi generally has no financial interest in or legal responsibility for the event.
