On September 10 Tottori JALT, working together with Matsuyama JALT and Okayama JALT, hosted an online event for those interested in English education at the primary school level in Japan. Fifteen people joined the event, and in addition to a summary of current research in the field, spent time in breakout rooms discussing various aspects of language education. Breakout topics included the goals of English education in Japan, the changes wrought to middle and high school education by the changes in primary school English, motivating students and other relevant topics.
 
Tottori JALT’s next event will be on November 19, and will be a hybrid event, online and face-to-face. The topic will be the language Esperanto, with a chance to give it a go.
