Event Report, Tottori Chapter July 2021

JALT Tottori chapter held an online event on 19th July and welcomed Toddo Beuchens, a current teacher of Ritsumeikan Asia Pacific University and a founder of authentic free online website such as elllo.org as a speaker. Presentation title was ‘Create Fun Listening Lessons with Free Apps’. This relevant topic attracted about 20 educators from Fukuoka, Hiroshima, Tottori and so on. The speaker showed the attendees how to create simple, yet insightful and engaging worksheets and books using slide tools like Power Point and Google Slides. Attendees were fascinated to learn the way of how to use these popular tools effectively and also the speaker introduced several free online platforms that make listening activities fun and interactive especially on mobile devices. In addition, two attendees Sean Banville and Oliver Rose showed websites‘Breaking News English Lessons’ and ‘LingoLab.online’. They introduced them and how they can use them productively for English language classroom to the other attendees. This successful event could involve more attendees than previous JALT Tottori events and all the attendees thanked the speaker for sharing variable and practical skill for English language teaching.
