Accent training – Designed to help students to filter through the varying sounds of English, at the same time, recognize the English language.
Worksheets – read paragraphs, exercises (accent recording 3 times, fill out)

Main goal – understand different English accents by filtering the language
Sentence Snake *demonstration* – learning how to create sentence focusing on structure. Good for listening. Brainstorming different ideas to produce words. Can create an interesting story at the end.
Broken Telephone – Students are allowed to whisper the sentence part to the person behind the twice only. Can check each sentence part and make any connections in front of students. They can observe the mistakes they made and learn from them. Can vary from simple to complex sentences. Mistakes are good.
Vocabulary Brickwork – an activity which focuses on vocabulary acquisition and vocabulary placement resulting in sentence construction. Worksheet is used (Weekly Vocabulary From ENG – JPN) Following this is a quiz, where they need to construct from JPN-ENG, and information gap sentences. Building lexicon. When doing the speaking portion of the quiz, students will need to produce a counter-argument. In addition, students can create a story together in groups based on any given topic. Focus is on sentences. Other students can provide feedback and advice to other groups.
Dungeon & Dragons:
3.5 weeks to prepare, rules were taken out. Goal is to create a story, littered with questions and choices to make. Dungeon Master (DM, usually the teacher) will guide the story to make sure students stay on track. Some prep is needed at the beginning, but once the story starts moving along and students become used to the system, the implementation can be much easier to navigate through.

PanSIG Conference
PanSIG 2025 will be held May 16-18 in Chiba. PanSIG is an annual conference organized by JALT’s Special Interest Groups (SIGs).
