The Mixed, Augmented, and Virtual Realities in Learning (MAVR) Special Interest Group, a proud part of the Japan Association for Language Teaching (JALT), is dedicated to advancing scholarly understanding and practical application of immersive technologies in education. Bringing together researchers, educators, and innovators from diverse backgrounds, MAVR fosters a collaborative environment for exploring the pedagogical potential of mixed, augmented, and virtual realities across disciplines. Our work spans empirical research, concept and praxis papers, and the development of immersive learning environments, with a particular focus on language education. By promoting open-access, peer-reviewed publications such as the JALT-MAVR Journal, we aim to disseminate meaningful research that bridges theory and practice while maintaining high academic standards.

MAVR values diversity, inclusivity, and respectful discourse as essential foundations for innovation. Guided by the JALT Code of Conduct, our community prioritizes mindfulness in both research and professional interactions, recognizing the societal impact of emerging technologies. Through conferences, workshops, collaborative projects, and metaverse-based events, MAVR provides a dynamic platform for knowledge exchange and skill development. Whether experimenting with immersive simulations, designing gamified learning spaces, or critically evaluating new tools, our members share a commitment to shaping equitable, engaging, and future-ready educational experiences.
