Supporting Dyslexic Students: Inclusive New Teaching Methods

Students with dyslexia and/or attention challenges are at a disadvantage from the first days of their formal education. At present, few parents and teachers in Japan are aware of the structural barriers to studying that these students face. They often think it’s because they are “…just not trying.”

This workshop is about practical things you can do in a mainstream class to improve conditions, such as the selection of easy to read fonts, controlling light in the classroom, use of color, technology, activities and realia. By rethinking your environment to be more inclusive, you can change their future educational, employment, and health outcomes.
