Assessing Speaking in Large Classes: A Peer-review Model

Testing L2 speaking in large classes is applicable to Japanese university lecturers through to elementary educators. Listening, reading & writing assessments are efficient and practical. However, oratory testing remains our fieldโs shortfall.
This presentation will equip assessors with a manageable model to measure studentโs production through an active learning lens and peer-assessment. The model aims to meaningfully test studentsโ L2 speaking-skills in under 60 minutes.
