YoJALT My Share Dec 10, 2023 Report

On December 10th, 2023 at Kannai Hall, YoJALT held our semi-annual My share event. It was a hybrid meeting with a post-pandemic record attendance of 14 people in person and one online. We heard from three presenters who represented the full range of teaching levels. Samuel Lambert, an experienced language teacher, demonstrated some randomization tools he developed to further engage students in practical language activities. His easy to use tech was appreciated by those in the crowd who easily get overwhelmed by tech. Kriti Arora, a Master’s student at Soka University presented her research on university students’ usage of technology in language lessons. Her findings and in depth research elicited a great conversation among the attendees. And representing the veteran teachers well, Tomoko Kojima helped us understand the Kakikae technique of writing with a solid review of some of Ken Hyland’s writings. After great presentations and engaging Q & A sessions, there was a bonenkai wrap-up at the local gyoza restaurant.
