•
Calling all authors and reviewers!
The free professional development workshop series on zoom hosted by the JALT Writer’s Peer Support Group (PSG) and sponsored by JALT Shizuoka, JALT Ibaraki, the SPINS Committee, and JALT CALL continues after a successful first session presented by Daniel J. Mills. The recording of his session can be viewed here on the JALT YouTube Channel.
This summer we are offering two exceptional new workshops for those interested in learning more about how to publish with JALT as well as those who wish to know about the peer reviewing process and may want to try their hand at becoming reviewers themselves.
Join us on Zoom on August 26 at 13:00 for an interactive and informative session where you’ll get practical advice on how to improve your chances of submission acceptance. Dr. Melodie Cook, a Professor at the University of Niigata Prefecture, avid researcher, book series editor and accomplished member of JALT will guide you through the requirements and process of getting articles published with JALT as well as chapters through other outlets. Her Dos and DON’Ts are essential advice to those looking to publish. After her talk, she hopes to have a lively discussion with participants.
But wait, there is more! Soon after on September 6 at 19:00, Dr. Jeremy White, a Professor at the College of Information Science and Engineering at Ritsumeikan University and co-editor of the CALL-EJ journal will be your peer review running partner as he leads the workshop “Enhancing Peer Review: Navigating the Journal Landscape.”
“This workshop aims to equip participants with the necessary skills and insights to conduct peer reviews efficiently and confidently, while addressing common pitfalls. There are several key ideas that will be discussed in this workshop: Understanding the Journal Landscape, the Reviewer, Not the Editor, Efficient Timing, Ability to Say No, and Don’t Be Afraid to Ask for More. By providing practical guidance and addressing key concerns, this workshop aims to empower participants to conduct peer reviews effectively. Through an interactive and collaborative learning environment, attendees will gain the confidence and skills necessary to navigate the peer review process, ultimately enhancing the quality and impact of scholarly research.”
Don’t miss out on these TWO amazing opportunities to enhance your submission game, learn how to get your manuscripts published and become an insider of the reviewing process. To register for these two workshops, simply fill out this form and secure your spot today!
