The JALT CEFR & LP SIG (until 2017 under the name FLP SIG) discusses the Common European Framework of Reference (CEFR, 2001), the CEFR Companion Volume (CEFR/CV, 2020) and the European Language Portfolio (ELP), and other similar frameworks and their relevance for foreign language education (SLE) in Japan and beyond. There is an emphasis on developing materials to support educators who would like to use these pedagogic tools; the bilingual Language Portfolio for Japanese University is available on the SIG website (further details on the CEFR & LP SIG website or the FLP SIG website).
The CEFR and CEFR/CV is a point of reference and very sophisticated multilayered tool that relates to many topics not only ‘Can do’ descriptors but also learner agency, action oriented approach, TBLT, CLIL, teacher development, mediation, backward design, ICC and more. The CEFR & LP SIG has a newsletter, publishes a peer-reviewed journal: CEFR Journal – Research and Practice, holds regular events, and is working on research projects. The outcome can be seen in various book publications, especially with a wide range of detailed case studies from practitioners their teaching and institutional context.
You are welcome to join the SIG and get involved. We want to support practitioners in Japan in using the CEFR and its ressources efficiently and bridge to the related international research and practice.

The JALT CEFR & Language Portfolio SIG (CEFR & LP SIG, former Framework & Language Portfolio SIG (FLP SIG)) is a interest group of the Japan Association for Language Teaching (JALT.ย 
CEFR & LP SIG wants to discuss these CEFR related tools and their relevance for language education in Japan while carrying out projects and communicating the results. There is an emphasis on developing materials to support educators who would like to use these pedagogic tools. Our membership includes educators of several languages.
