Information for Presenters

Equipment

Each room will be equipped with tables and chairs and a digital projector (for computer display, except the roundtable and poster session rooms).
You MUST bring your own computer and compatible connecting cables and devices. JALT will NOT provide computers.
Larger rooms will be provided with a microphone.
If you plan on playing a CD or DVD, you should bring a computer that is capable of doing so.
Any other equipment, including speakers, must be provided by the presenter.

Advice From the Tech Team

We in the tech team are very excited to help you to share your great ideas and knowledge with the participants of JALT2019.

As you prepare, we would like to ask for your understanding of our arrangements.

Provisions: we will provide a projector and a VGA cable only. We will provide no other equipment, including no computers, and we will have no spare equipment just in case of emergencies. Please note that the VGA cable is also not particularly long (see note 4).
Cables and adapters: as per note 1, all projectors are VGA capable. If your computer does not have a port for this type of connection, please make sure to bring an adapter for a VGA cable, not for HDMI or any other type of cable.
Screen size: we will try to put projectors on small tables situated between rows in a position that maximizes image size and quality. We ask that you do not adjust the positions of these tables.
As the arrangement will likely result in your computer being rather far from where you stand as you present, we recommend a few arrangements:Enabling remote slide toggling: you can buy online several types of devices that can be plugged into a computer’s USB port and allow you to toggle between screens. Another option is to enable Microsoft Office Remote on both your PC and your smartphone, allowing you to remotely control your computer via Bluetooth (other apps with similar functions may also be found).
Note preparation: if you have notes that you would like to see while presenting, you may wish to have a printed version or copies on a portable device as it may be difficult to see your computer screen from the front of the room.
Bringing your own longer VGA cable: the option of bringing your own longer cable in order to keep your computer closer to you may be considered. However, please note that different room sizes and alignments may make this a risky gamble and even a longer cable than we provide may still not be sufficient to bring the computer within a useful range of the front of the room.

In case of last-minute worries, there are several electronics shops near Nagoya Station, including Bic Camera and Yamada Denki. Simply do a search on Google to find a maps to other locations as well.
