Event Report, Okinawa Chapter September 2018

The 2nd 21st Century Language Learning conference on the 21st of September 2018 was a well organised mini conference. The event featured a mixture of research based presentations as well as teachers sharing techniques they used in their classes.
The masterfully presented bilingual keynote by Pr. Makiko Tanaka from Kanda University of International Studies was very interesting and provided food for thought for anyone interested in raising phonemic awareness in young learners. Professor Tanaka showed that by raising phonemic awareness children are not only more proficient in reading and writing abilities but that they feel more confident swell.
Besides the presenters from universities all over Japan. A number of local teachers from international schools were present. The event also featured a unique reflection activity once all presentations were done. Participants shared the things they felt they learned the most from during the day and all opinions were share using a tool called mentimeter.
We are very excited about the 3rd 21st Century Language learning conference in 2019.
