JALT Committee Nominations

Dear all,
Each year, members of the BoD strive to identify new members of the many committees that are part of the JALT administrative structure (see the link below). Members in good standing can be appointed to any committee whose name is highlighted; the membership of other committees is not by appointment but defined by relevant Standing Rules or the JALT Constitution: https://docs.google.com/document/d/1V-zCz3V9qDeVizzNA8QqoX4YSfKlaIQML5SS…
Part of that process includes specific efforts to identify female, Japanese, non-native speaking, and other members from diverse backgrounds to volunteer for posts on these committees. While we often are able to contact such JALT members, for a variety of reasons, they are sometimes unable to join our group of volunteers.
I would like to request the members of EBMnet to assist in identifying and encouraging such JALT members and others to join and be active in our association through our committees. Any names can be forwarded to me (president@jalt.org), the Vice President (vp@jalt.org), or the current Chair of each committee, and added to a Motion for Appointments that will be drafted just prior to the Board of Directors meeting on October 20-21, 2018. If possible, please ask any member to communicate their request for appointment by October 17. The finalized Motion for Appointments will then be voted on at the EBM at the JALT International Conference.
Please feel free to pass this along to those who may be interested so that these opportunities can be widely publicized. I hope that, with your help, we can encourage more of our JALT members to become active in our committees.
Thanks as always!
Richmond Stroupe
JALT President
