Dion Clingwall (Hiroshima University)
This presentation looks at a pronunciation course that has been developed in answer to the identified needs of both undergraduate and graduate students. After a brief look at the current state of pronunciation research, Professsor Clingall will show his findings concerning students’ attitudes toward pronunciation instruction. Specifically, this will include what they believe is most important, and why. He will also explain his experiences with carrying out a needs analysis and developing the course itself. Finally, he will give suggestions for possible changes to future courses.
