To whet your appetite for the JALT International Conference in Nagoya Nov. 1-4, the October Hiroshima JALT meeting will feature FOUR presentations which will also be given at the conference. The talks have all been vetted by the conference committee, so they are guaranteed to be of high quality! First, Jim Ronald will lead a workshop entitled “To Have a Voice: Pragmatics, opportunity, action.” Then, Yuki Mizutani, in a talk called “Making Plans,” will show an effective activity in which students can learn how to make, accept and decline invitations appropriately. Third, Malik Amir Feroze will lead a talk entitled “Investigating Apologies with Written and Oral Discourse Completion Tasks.” Finally, Simon Capper will speak about “Focus Groups in Nursing English Needs Analysis.” Note that the meeting is on a SATURDAY at Peace Park.
