JALT Awards Nominations due September 11, 2023

Do you know a JALT member who has made important contributions to our field? Make sure to nominate them for one of these awards brought to you by JALT’s Awards and Recognition Committee! JALT has awards for teachers and researchers at various stages of their careers: Early Career Excellence Award, Mid-Career Scholar Award, and Lifetime Achievement Award. Any member is welcome to nominate another JALT member for an award—simply complete this Google Form in English or Japanese by 23:59 on Monday, September 11, 2023. 
 
JALT Award for Early Career Excellence
JALT アーリー・キャリア優秀賞 
The Early Career Excellence Award recognizes outstanding contributions to the field of language teaching by individuals within JALT. This award is bestowed annually upon a JALT member who demonstrates an example of excellence early in their career which has a broad impact on and implications for the language teaching field. Nominees for this award likely have up to ten years of experience or are re-entering the field after an extended break, or are recent graduates of degree programs (bachelor’s, master’s, doctoral).

JALT Mid-Career Scholar Award (Research)
JALT ミッド・キャリア研究者賞(リサーチ部門)
The Mid-Career Scholar Award recognizes outstanding contributions to the field of language teaching or research by individuals within JALT. This award is bestowed annually upon a JALT member who demonstrates an example of excellence in teaching or research midway through their career which has a broad impact on and implications for the language teaching field. Nominees for this award likely have over ten years of experience.
 
JALT Lifetime Achievement Award
JALT 特別功労賞
The Lifetime Achievement Award recognizes outstanding contributions to the field of language teaching by individuals within JALT. This award is bestowed annually upon a JALT member who has demonstrated excellence in teaching and/or research throughout their career and has a broad impact on and implications for the language teaching field.
Nominations
JALT endeavors to recognize and celebrate members’ contributions to the field. These include but are not limited to innovative classroom practices or materials, development of communities of practice, research achievements, presentations, publications, contributions to curriculum, mentoring activities, creation of opportunities for student learning outside the classroom, advocacy, academic service, and so on. Previous winners and example letters can be found at 2022 JALT Awards Winners. 
The nominations will be evaluated on: 

Evidence of the nominee’s achievements
Significance of the nominee’s contribution to the field of foreign or second language learning and teaching
Clarity of the letter of nomination

Awards will be presented at the JALT 2023 International Conference in Tsukuba (November 24-27, 2023). Recipients will be notified in advance and are not required to be present to receive the award. As not all nominees will receive an award, we ask that you keep your nomination confidential.
