Happy Room

Three or four days of presentations, workshops and networking can be tough on the mind and the body. When you need to recharge, come along to the Happy Room, a space onsite for you to kick back and relax. Just enjoy the comfy beanbags, aromas and chill-out music. Chat, hang out or take a nap, if you like.
You might feel like joining one of the recreation sessions. You could start your day with some yoga or meditation. Or take a little break from the presentations in the afternoon and try zumba, martial arts, painting or knitting. No special clothes or equipment are needed for any of the sessions, and you don’t need to have experience to participate.
You could also calm and rebalance yourself with a visit to the reiki corner. Reiki sessions last 10 minutes. It’s a good idea to drop by the Happy Room earlier in the day and book ahead to get the time slot you would prefer.
All Happy Room activities are free of charge. It’s fine to join a session after it has started or to leave a session early. Find us right next to the registration desk in the EME. Come and enjoy!

12:10 PM – 12:40 PM Etegami (Painting Postcards) with Kaoru Nishi
Try Japanese Etegami with ink and watercolors. Enjoy feeling the harvest season!
1:00 PM – 1:30 PM Meditation with Marc Helegeson
Refresh yourself with Loving Kindness Meditation.
1:45 PM – 2:15 PM Zumba with Sarah Birchley
Move the stress away with a wiggle!
3:40 PM – 4:40 PM The martial science of self defense with Dominic Jones
Experience how systematic repetition improves the acquisition of self-defense movements.
5:00 PM – 5:30 PM NLPlay with Brian Cullen
Brian will lead you through a generative process.
Sunday
9:30 AM – 10:00 AM Zazen with John Spiri
Start your day right with some Zazen meditation.
11:20 AM – 12:20 PM Communication yoga with Alexandra Gellin
Take a break from spoken language and enjoy communicating with your body!
12:40 PM – 1:10 PM De-stress with knitting with Leah Ann Sullivan
Make a small hand-knit square to take away. Inexperienced and experienced knitters welcome.
1:20 PM – 1:50 PM You gotta lose yourself in the music with Ellen Head
Singing reaches parts that even massage can’t reach. Very short songs and chants.
