1. Please vote online in the JALT Ordinary General Meeting
JALT Ordinary General Meeting (OGM) Ballots were emailed June 9. The JALT
OGM will be held June 28th in Osaka. This meeting decides important changes
for JALT. We need your vote to establish quorum, but more importantly so
that JALT reflects our members’ views and wishes. JALT members can vote
online, and everyone should have received a ballot by email. If you have
not received your ballot, check your spam folder.
Members can also vote at http://jalt.org/2015-1-ogm but you will need to
input your name, and membership information. Your membership number is on
your TLT mailing label.
An important issue on the ballot this time is a proposed membership dues
increase. The Executive Board Meeting approved the increase in February (35
in favor-6 opposed-0 abstentions) but for it to take effect the general
membership needs to ratify it.

2. TLT and JJ seeking Associate Editors
Get into publishing with JALT. Both The Language Teacher and JALT Journal
are seeking candidates for Associate Editor positions. This is a great way

3. Nakasendo Conference
Saitama JALT will be co-hosting the 2015 Nakasendo English Conference in
Urawa, on Sunday July 19th along with AJET Block 3 and Saitama City
Educators. The theme is “Change.” We would like to see you there. We would
like to hear you. Call for papers closes 1 July 2015.
There are three reasons for Nakasendo to exist:
• Helping teachers gain awareness of what is happening at all levels of
English education, not just their own
• Supporting young teachers’ organizations that have proven dynamic and
innovative in our field
• Improving relations and exchange opportunities between Japanese and
foreign teachers of English
If you feel that these goals support the educational community you wish to
be a part of, we ask for your participation.
If you feel that your completed research, reports, classroom methods or
materials reflect how you have responded to or initiated change, we ask for
you to speak and share.
We are requesting short format presentations, workshops, and poster
presentations, with preference given to first-timers and students. More athttp://goo.gl/sY8DKf.

5. Featured websites
Each month we bring websites to your attention to highlight the work
of JALT Groups and to inform you about other organizations of
interest.
JALT Group: Nankyu Chapter
The newest JALT Chapter makes extensive use of technology to keep their
far-flung members connected. Publicity Co-chairs: Hugh Nicoll and Levy
Solomon. Web administrator: Branden Kirchmeyer. http://www.nankyujalt.org/
Other: Many JALT members got their start teaching on the JET Program(me),
but even if you’ve never had any association with JET, the website for the
Association for Japan Exchange and Teaching (AJET) is worth a visit. This
group connects current and former JETs, but has plenty of useful
information for all language teachers. Visit http://ajet.net/ to learn
more.
