Gavin Thomas and Teresa Stockwell
This two-part session explores both the personal and professional realities of living and teaching with a disability in Japan. In the first half, Gavin will provide an overview of ALS, explaining what it is and how it affects daily life. In the second half, Gavin will reflect on his experience as a teacher in Japan, highlighting the barriers and opportunities he encountered after his diagnosis. Then, Teresa will present her research on educators with disabilities in Japan, an often-overlooked perspective in discussions on inclusivity.
