JALT2020 Professional Development Workshops – Friday, November 20, 2020

JALT is adding to our Friday lineup of workshops for those who get here before the main International Conference. While TnT (Technology in Teaching) has always focused on applying technology to your teaching, these additional professional development workshops will focus on honing the other areas of your professional skill set.
A key facet of JALT’s mission is “…providing opportunities for those involved in language education to meet, share, and collaborate.” The main JALT international conference provides attendees with a wide variety of opportunities to meet, share, and collaborate. The three main days of the conference have something for everyone, so much so that over the past many years we decided to take a piece of that experience and bring it to the Friday before the conference with the special TnT program focused on presentations and workshops involving technology. This has been a success so we would like to expand our Friday offering with workshops that focus on professional development for language educators.
The vision of these professional development workshops is to develop skill sets related to language teaching practice. Workshop leaders should be able to cultivate an interactive environment where participants will work together to receive tangible knowledge they can use to further their professional careers. The intention is not for these to be lectures or forums to disseminate research results, instead be places of knowledge sharing and creating where theory is crafted into practice.
