The JALT International Conference returns to EPOCHAL Tsukuba for its 2017 conference. Tsukuba is conveniently located 58 minutes from Akihabara on the Tsukuba Express line. The Epochal Tsukuba International Congress Center is a pleasant 5 minute walk from Tsukuba Station (exit A3).
The city, known as “Science City” has continued to grow since the last JALT International conference there in 2014. With more shops and restaurants in the area surrounding the congress center, the city of Tsukuba offers even more things to try for first time JALT attendees as well as seasoned JALT veterans. All presentations and poster sessions will be located in the same building. JALT presentations are on floors 1 to 4. JALT Junior presentations will all be on the 4th floor.

Registration Area: Information desk, cloakroom, ATM, lockers
The Registration Area for the conference will be on the first floor. The information desk and cloakroom will be next to the registration area on the first floor. Both will operate during regular conference hours.
There is one ATM machine on the 1st floor of the Congress Center. For international visitors with major international bank cards, the machine will allow you to withdraw Japanese yen. Coin lockers are available for a returnable deposit of 100 yen.

Multipurpose Hall: SIGs, EME, Mind & Body Space
To see the latest research being done by JALT’s SIGs (Special Interest Groups) and affiliates, both domestic and international, go to the Multipurpose Hall on the first floor. In addition to finding research in action, you can sign up to join your favourite group, or two, or three. Our affiliates will be displaying information about their activities and events.
Poster sessions will be presented in the Multi-Purpose Hall. Check the schedule for the varied relaxation sessions available in the Mind and Body Space, also located in Multipurpose Hall.
Main Convention Hall: Plenaries & OGM
The Main Convention Hall on the second floor will host the convention’s plenary sessions and the JALT Ordinary General Meeting (OGM).
Food and Beverages
There are several eateries in the congress centre area. The Congress Centre has one restaurant, Espoir, on the first floor. A café in the lobby area in front of the Main Convention Hall will offer lunch, coffee, tea and soft drinks. Opening hours are from 9:00 to 6:30 on both Saturday and Sunday.
Just a reminder that there food and drinks are prohibited in the Main Convention Hall, Convention Hall 200 and Convention Hall 300. Thank you for your consideration.
Prayer Room & Worship Service
Room 316 will serve as the prayer room throughout the conference. It will operate on Saturday and Sunday, from 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM.
Christian Fellowship will have an hour of worship on Sunday from 9:15 to 10:15 in room 303.
Wi-Fi
The Congress Center has wi-fi access throughout.
Smoking Area
Epochal Tsukuba is a non-smoking building. There is one designated smoking area near the North Parking Lot.
