Site Information

JALT2012 is taking place at ACT City Hamamatsu (venue website: Japanese or English). The site itself is a little more spread out than in past conferences, so please be sure to give yourself enough time between presentations. It will take about 10 minutes to walk from the station to the furthest building of the conference. The main areas of the site are the Congress Center, the Concert Hall, the Seminar and Exchange Center as well as the Exhibition and Event Hall. Concert (Chu) Hall
This year our plenary sessions will be in the Concert Hall, which is located near the ACT City main office in the Congress center and close to the station. Please be aware that there are two halls. The other, the Main Hall, will not be used by us. For plenary times, there will be a small cloakroom available for your luggage, but please make sure you check and adhere to the closing times if you wish to leave any luggage or clothing. The Happy Room, as well as some small meeting and presentation rooms, are located within and close to the surrounding areas of the hall.
The Congress Center
The majority of the presentations and workshops will happen here on floors 2-5. There will be various events and features happening in the foyer areas, such as local craft and industry explanations and sales, as well as the Cengage National Geographic Photo Exhibition. The main cloakroom is located on the first floor of the Congress Center. Again, please make sure to be timely in collecting your belongings within the operation times posted.
The Seminar and Exchange Center
This building between the Congress Center and Exhibition Hall is accessible at street level via the crosswalk next to the Exhibition Hall and from the outside walkway on the second floor of the Congress Center. There will also be many presentations and workshops happening here over the conference weekend, most notably though, it will serve as the base for JALT Junior.
The Exhibition Hall will host the Educational Materials Expo (EME), where you will be able to talk to publishers and browse through their catalogues. This year there will also be a coffee stand with seating areas, some small performances as well as sample Shizuoka tea. Conference registration is also located in the hall. Attendees will also be able to take advantage of the free wireless Internet access in the EME.
