Happy Room

Three or four days of presentations, workshops and networking can be tough on the mind and the body. When you need to recharge, come along to the Happy Room, a space onsite for you to kick back and relax. Just enjoy the comfy beanbags, aromas, and chill-out music. Chat, hang out, or take a nap, if you like. There is even a piano to play!
You might feel like joining one of the recreation sessions. Start your day on Saturday or Sunday with morning yoga (you can do this in ordinary clothes, and beginners are welcome). Or take a little break from the presentations in the afternoon and try a salsa, martial arts, or meditation session. Again, no special clothes are needed, and you don’t need to have experience to participate.
You could also visit the reiki corner from 5 PM on Sunday. Reiki sessions last 10 minutes. It’s a good idea to drop by the Happy Room earlier in the day and book ahead to get the time slot you would prefer.
Most sessions are in the Happy Room, but some of the more active sessions will be up on Music Square, if the weather is fine. If it rains, these sessions will be held in the Happy Room.
All recreation activities are free of charge. It’s fine to join a session after it has started or to leave a session early. Come and enjoy!

Revitalizing Yoga you can easily do in your work clothes, in your workplace or with students.
12.30~1.00: Laughing Yoga Juggling Singing with Tim Murphey in the Happy Room
Trans-disciplinary fun in improvisational action.
1.10~2.10: Neuro Muscular Programming in Self Defense Training with Dominic Jones on Music Square
Experience how systematic repetition improves the acquisition of self-defense movements.
2.20~2.50: No Equipment Workout with Ron Crosby in the Happy Room
A workout for everyone that can be done at home, in the office, any time of day.
4.20~4.50: Batteries not Included with Zoë Jenkins, Mary Hillis, Lisa Theisen and Scott Bean in the Happy Room
Take a break from the conference and enjoy classic childhood games and diversions.
5.00~5.30: Mindfulness Meditation with Ellen Head in the Happy Room
Practice meditation in the tradition of Thich Nat Hanh. Beginners welcome.
Sunday

11.30~12.00: De-stress with Knitting with Leah Ann Sullivan in the Happy Room
Make a small hand-knit square to take away. Inexperienced / experienced knitters welcome.

3.40~4.10: Salsa (dance) for Beginners with Joshua Myerson in the Happy Room
Take your first salsa dance steps here and see what the fun is all about!
4.20~4.50: Revitalizing Yoga with Rohini Deblaise on Music Square
Enhance your JALT experience with Body-Mind-Balancing Yoga.
5.00~5.45: Reiki Corner open (sign up to receive 10 minutes of reiki) in the Happy Room.
