How to Use Roleplay to Create a Dynamic Class of Motivated Students
Eric Hankin
The Toyohashi Chapter’s December presentation will explore and detail our long-term chapter member Eric Hankin’sย success using roleplay in English classes to โturbo teachโ โexcite and motivateโ Japanese students from junior high school to adults of all ages and backgrounds. He will talk about the benefits of roleplay for students, and how teachers can create and facilitate successful improvisations in almost any setting.
The presentation will emphasize the pedagogical benefits of using in-class roleplay and provide research insights intertwined with Ericโs own experience and research on the topic. After presenting the benefits of roleplay, Eric will provide an interactive demonstration of a roleplay that has been successful for him. The workshop will conclude with attendees breaking into small groups to construct their own roleplay.
