Finding Balance in the Classroom and Beyond: An Integrative Self-Care Session for Educators (Online | Zoom)
September 12 @ 2:00 PM – 4:00 PM
Teaching can be stressful, and educators often face burnout, fatigue, and diminished
motivation. In this session, participants will learn practical, integrative self-care
strategies to enhance their well-being. Drawing from Traditional Chinese Medicine,
we’ll explore mindfulness and breathing techniques, along with key meridian points to
relieve tension and restore balance. Teachers will also learn simple, actionable tools to
manage stress, improve focus, and boost energy. By the end of the session, educators
will have new strategies for nurturing their mental and physical health in ways that
support both their personal lives and teaching practice.
Dr. Masatoshi Shoji is an educator, medical writer, and integrative health practitioner
with training in linguistics, dentistry, and traditional medicine. As a graduate of the
Andrew Weil Centerโs Integrative Health and Lifestyle program, he is especially
interested in health communication, drawing on his background in linguistics, health
care, and education. He teaches English at the university level and Japanese, provides
acupuncture and lymphedema care, coordinates the Mind and Body Space at the JALT
conference, and focuses on practical, evidence-based approaches to self-care and well-
being.
