This workshop will deal with two main topics.
1An examination of the 5 key aspects of conceptual and procedural knowledge required for a young learner to achieve a foundation in Foreign Language “Communication Ability”. This will include practical activities, requiring minimum preparation to maximize the teaching materials you use, when you teach alone or with an ALT, paying particular attention to Hi, Friends! (produced by MEXT).
学習者が外国語の「コミュニケーション能力」素地を習得する上で求められる、概念的かつ手続き的な知識の5つの鍵となる側面を調査していく。それらは現在文部科学省によって、日本全国の小学校において指導される外国語カリキュラムの主要な目標として要請されている教師は小学校の授業で使うためにふさわしい英語・外国語教育に関する様々な活動を行う。この課で学習することは、小学5, 6年生を指導する教師にとって本質的に実用的なものとなっていく。さらに活動を実行する際には、日本の小学校教師が日常の授業において一人またはALT(外国語指導助手)と共同で行うシナリオなどを模擬的に実践していく。

activity on how to divide up the various responsibilities in an elementary school classroom.
チーム教育方法論の自覚と実践
教師がALTとの時間をより効果的に作る様々な手法について焦点を当てていく。また、ワークショップ形式の活動において教師は、チーム教育に関係する現在の実践及び今後の期待について調査し、改善の可能性を検討していく。
Bio:
Carmen Hannah currently teaches in the Institute of Education and Student Affairs and in the Faculty of Education in Niigata University. Her interests include teacher development, classroom-based research methods, English for academic purposes, and study abroad. In addition, she has been teaching elementary school English pedagogy to undergraduate English education majors as well as running workshops for local primary school teachers and in-service license renewal seminars mandated by MEXT. At present she is in charge of a new intensive language program which has just started in Niigata University.
