PresentERs – Extensive Reading in University EFL Contexts: Insights from Türkiye

We will have a short talk about Extensive Reading from Havva Kurt-Taşpinar on Sunday 25 January 19:00-20:00. The event will involve a short 20-30 minute casual talk from our PresentER, followed by around 20-30 minutes of questions and discussion. PresentERs takes place on the last Sunday of each month online on Zoom. It is free for anyone to attend.
Abstract:
A brief overview of how Extensive Reading is implemented in university preparatory-year programs at different universities in Türkiye, highlighting key practices, challenges, and insights from recent research.
Bio:
Dr. Havva Kurt Taşpınar is a lecturer, who currently works at İzmir Institute of Technology, School of Foreign Languages. She has presented at many national and international conferences and has published many articles and book chapters. She has also served as a reviewer and Applied Linguistics strand coordinator in TESOL. Her main research interests include critical and creative thinking, genre-based reading instruction, extensive reading, motivation, grit, and growth mindset in foreign language learning.
