Chiyuki Yanase (educator and JALT mainstay) and Patricia Daly OE (writer) presented on storytelling and Extensive Reading in Toyoda. Macmillan sponsored the event, generously covering the costs of one presenter, providing pizza for attendees, and creating gift bags. The focus was on young learners, but this covered the spectrum of what a young learner is. Details included what types of ER and other reading materials to use, how to employ them in and out of classes, and successful anecdotes.
Turnout was rather small, at about 1o people, but they were enthusiastic attendees.
Both presenters were very dedicated, personable, and well prepared. They are certainly easy to work with if any chapters are looking for presenters on such a topic.
