Julia Kimura came from Osaka to talk about theories in second language learning and the benefits of being a union member. In the first half of the presentation, she gave a chronological review of different theories of second language learning, punctuated with periodic lively discussions of practical applications of those theories. In the second half, she talked about the benefits of being a member of the general union, comparing and contrasting the structure and function of unions in Japan and Canada.
