The goal of JIC is to provide a common meeting place for both teachers and employers.  Every year, recruiters from around Japan come to the JALT international conference for the purposes of interviewing and hiring new teachers.  This opportunity cannot be passed up.
Drop by the Job Information Center (JIC) to read the latest job listings, submit your resume to the job bank, or make an appointment for an on-site interview. This is a good chance to learn about the EFL job market and gain valuable insights on how to work towards finding posted positions and improving your chances of landing them. There will be one formal presentation on professional development sponsored by the JIC titled, “Publication Strategies for Academic Job Seekers” led by JIC co-coordinators and CUE Careers column editors, Richard Miller and Michael Parrish. There will also be more informal poster sessions on the Academic CV, application preparation, and general professional development at the JIC desk itself, as well as the opportunity to exchange ideas about the job hunt process, one-to-one.
If you are thinking about moving up the academic career ladder, want to get some feedback on your resume, or just would like to chat, stop by the JIC at the designated time slots (posted at our booth). Also, if you forgot to print copies of your resume, we will have a printer and a WiFi hotspot for your use. Employers are also encouraged to use the JIC as a tool to recruit potential candidates by posting new or upcoming positions at the JIC, collecting resumes, or conducting interviews—there will be sign-up sheets for interviews and a resume bank for potential employers.
