1. Dues increase
JALT members voted to increase our membership fees, and this takes
effect September 1, 2015.
Regular members will see their annual fees rise from 10,000 to 13,000
yen. This is our first increase since 1998, and will allow JALT to
grow and serve its members in the most effective ways possible.
Membership continues to include subscriptions to our two main print
publications, The Language Teacher and JALT Journal, and free or
discounted participation in all JALT events. At the same time, our
membership structure is changing to respond to changing member needs.
Membership will now include the option to join one chapter, and will
also include the option to join one SIG.
Joint, Group, 5 Year, Senior, Student, and Overseas membership fees,
and additional SIG memberships, will also see about a 30% increase.
The best way to sign up or renew is online at, but a furikae in the back of the TLT is
also available. Members may renew at any time to extend their term of
membership.
