The Garr Reynolds TnT Special Guest Event will be held on Friday November 20 2009 from 17:00-18:00.
Participants in the pre-conference Technology in Teaching (TnT) Workshops will be able to develop the technology side of their teaching skills through a series of practical, hands-on workshops, led by experts in technology in language teaching. There will be a particular focus on the use of newer technologies, but some workshops will aim to develop expertise with more conventional technology.
Here are some features of this yearโ€™s program:
A diverse collection of workshops, introducing technologies such as PowerPoint, podcasting, blogs, wikis, course management systems and Web 2.0 tools for education.
Each workshop will be tagged with a degree of technical difficulty, identifying which are suitable for beginners and which are more advanced
A variety workshop โ€“ a series of short sessions on IT ideas for the classroom
Hands-on training for participants who bring their own laptop computer
You must register online or onsite for a TnT event. Registration guarantees you entrance to any TnT session, including the Garr Reynolds special event.
TnT Special Guest
This year we are pleased to announce that the internationally known author (โ€œPresentation Zenโ€), blogger, and designer Garr Reynolds will be joining the TnT Workshops. He will be speaking on Design, Zen & the Art of Presenting Naked at a TnT Special Event on Friday, November 20, 2009, 17:00-18:00.
Over the years, presentation software programs such as PowerPoint and Keynote have gotten better, but presentations have not. Why? Part of the problem has been a focus only on the tools themselves, not on how to clarify our ideas and messages through fundamental design and storytelling principles. In this workshop, Garr explores techniques from some of the worldโ€™s top business leaders. His Presentation Zen approach challenges the conventional wisdom of making โ€œslide presentationsโ€ and encourages thinking differently and creatively about the preparation, design, and delivery of presentations. Incorporating cognitive science, principles of graphic design, visual communications, and Zen aesthetics, Garr dispels popular myths about presenting, and offers alternatives for designing and delivering better presentations. The lessons are not about dressing up the presentation or decorating slides; they are about understanding and embracing concrete design and delivery principles to make presentations clear, powerful, and memorable.
