How to join the Teacher Education SIG

Option 1 If you're already a JALT member.
Option 2 If you're a new or renewing JALT member.
Option 3 If you're not a JALT member.

Option 1

If you're already a JALT member, you can join the Teacher Education SIG for the remaining term of your JALT Membership for 1,500 Japanese yen.

If, for example, you joined JALT in January and decided to join this SIG in July, then your membership in this SIG would remain in effect for six months, until your regular JALT membership expired.

Option 2

If you're a new or renewing JALT Member, you can enjoy a full one year membership in this SIG for 1,500 Japanese yen - if the term of your JALT membership coincides with your JALT membership. Joining this SIG the same time you join JALT is the best bargain.

Option 3

Technically, membership in JALT is a prerequisite for membership this SIG. However, if you are not (or do not) wish to become a member of the Japan Association for Language Teaching, you can enjoy a newsletter subscription only 2,500 Japanese yen a year.

How do I pay?

There are also three ways to pay for your membership or newsletter subscription:

OPTION 1 Via a Japanese Post Office
OPTION 2 Via an International Postal Money Order
OPTION 3 Directly to the SIG Treasurer

These are summarized below:

Most members in Japan find it convenient to pay via a postal deposit form, known as a yuubin furikae youshi in Japanese. A copy of this form is contained in JALT's monthly publication, The Language Teacher.

JALT's account number is "Yokohama 00290-1-70903." Be sure to indicate your full mailing address, phone, and fax, - and that you wish to join the Teacher Education SIG.

Your application will be processed within two weeks.

If you're living outside of Japan, you can mail an international postal money order directly to the JALT Central Office at this address:

Urban Edge Building 5th Floor
1-37-9 Taito, Taito-ku,
Tokyo 110 Japan

Indicate your mailing address, phone, and fax, and note that you wish to join the Teacher Education SIG.

A final option is give the membership fee in cash directly to our treasurer.

Unfortunately, personal checks or credit cards are not accepted at this time.
