Positions Available: Technology Advisory Committee

Mon, 07/11/2016 - 9:06am

Positions Available: Technology Advisory Committee

At the recent JALT Executive Board Meeting in Hiroshima, JALT created the new Technology Advisory Committee. At this point, we need a chair and several members for the committee. These are great opportunities for JALT members to become more involved at the national level, influence how JALT works online, learn about technology, develop and demonstrate management skills, and work with a great team of people.

Rationale for the committee: Technology of all kinds is important to the efficient functioning of JALT and to supporting our future development. Information communication technology in particular requires careful consideration in adoption and use with regard to efficiency, user-friendliness, privacy, legal issues, personnel policies, and costs. This committee will provide proactive policy advice to the Board of Directors and the Executive Board and will review implementation of ICT within JALT. More...

BOD Elections: Director of Treasury Position

Tue, 05/10/2016 - 8:30am

Regarding the upcoming JALT election, about a week has passed since the announcement of the candidates was made (http://jalt.org/general/2016-bod-nominations). It had been hoped that the absence of a nominee for the position of Directory of Treasury would have been noted and that by this time the NEC would have received a nomination for that office. It is with some concern that I must report that, to date, the NEC has received no further nominations for any of the positions, most notably that of the position of Directory of Treasury.

With the deadline for nominations less than a week away, May 15, it is becoming an issue of some urgency that at least one candidate step forward to fill this office.

Anyone sending a nomination to the NEC would have received a mail from the NEC acknowledging that the mail was seen and that the nominee would be contacted in order to confirm his or her acceptance of the nomination. In the unlikely case that a mail has been sent but has not been seen, in which case the nominee's name will not currently be posted at the JALT website, please mail a message immediately regarding that to nec@jalt.org.

The NEC looks (anxiously) forward to receiving your nominations. Again, when nominating a person, be sure to include the nominee's contact information and be sure to mail to nec@jalt.org

David Gann
