Kevin Cleary came to Japan nearly 20 years ago to pursue his ambition to teach English. At TMDU he teaches ESL and ESP classes as well as helping the school take care of its many international students. He also teaches Accounting (another foreign language for most people) at the Meiji University Graduate School of Accountancy and "English through Cinema" at the Sophia University Community College. His research interests include technical communication by second language learners and the process of simplifying and otherwise adapting texts, especially scientific articles, for language learners. He lives in Kamakura with his family and his hobbies include reading, swimming, listening to all kinds of music and watching classical ballet.
