This 60-page EFL reading text aims to help Japanese students of English think and give opinions about social problems in Japan and overseas. Its 20 chapters cover topics such as fast food, Japanese companies and environmental destruction, illegal foreign workers, video games, women's role in the family, consumer rights, the North-South problem, dishonest doctors, Japan as a super power, and South Africa. Each chapter consists of a 2-page reading, vocabulary notes, a cloze summary of the reading, a scrambled sentence dialogue of opposing opinions and a sentence building exercise.
