Two Parts: Teaching English Verbs, followed by The Silent Way

December 23, 2009 by Hiroshima Chapter

Date and Time:
Sunday, 14 February 2010 - 3:00pm - 5:00pm
Speaker:
Tomoaki Iguchi (Kwansei Gakuin University, graduate student) and Don Cherry (Hiroshima Kokusai University, Associate Professor)

During the first hour, Mr. Iguchi will explain about the nature of English verbs, such as go, come, take, and give. These verbs have multiple meanings and are difficult for Japanese learners of English, but can be taught effectively. Mr. Iguchi has been a teacher in senior high schools for almost 20 years. During the second hour, Mr. Cherry will demonstrate some techniques inspired by the Silent Way teaching approach. The uses of gestures and other visual cues are vital in the approach.
